A desert kingdom, Dubai is home to a thriving international community and a booming property market that has gained a commercial foothold on the world stage.

Go and visit Dubai or any of the other Emirate countries to witness the unprecedented scale of construction in this region.

Investing in Dubai property or in any of the other oil-rich countries will blow your mind.

In Dubai, developers are building many ambitious projects, including the biggest shopping mall in the world, the tallest tower in the world, the biggest theme park in the world, and the Palms.

The Palms are three man-made islands in the middle of the Arabian Sea. This development will add 120km of waterfront to Dubai's coastline. Is it any wonder why one quarter of all the cranes in the world are in Dubai?

Check out this short one-minute video of Dubai.

If you think England is a rich nation, think again! In Dubai, you'll experience wealth beyond your wildest imagination. Want to dine in the only seven-star hotel in the world? You can find it only in Dubai.

I find the place very exciting! The development properties for sale in Dubai are very addictive. So many exciting projects get announced daily and it’s fun to try to keep up with them all.

All of this development is the product of this man on the right, H.H Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. He is the ruler of Dubai and also serves as the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE. Long ago, he realized that it was too risky to rely heavily on a single source of income.

Therefore, he encouraged the diversification of Dubai’s economy by investing in infrastructure and providing options for foreign investors.

In 2000, he announced to the world his vision for Dubai. He spoke of a number of economic aims for his country to be accomplished before 2010. He successfully met these goals in half that time.

And do you know what else?

He has another vision for Dubai for 2007-2015, when the Emirate nation is going to aim for an 11% growth target for each of the next eight years and increase the gross domestic product to $108 billion (Dh396.6bn), nearly triple that of the $37bn (Dh135.9bn) GDP in 2005.

Do you think he will be able to achieve this?

I have no doubt that he will. He has the biggest developer's right behind him, representing for investing in Dubai property: EMAAR, Nakheel and Dubai Properties. They represent the big league developers and are trendsetters who are global players as well.

IFA, Tameer Holdings, Tiger Real Estate, Union Properties, ETA Star, DAMAC, and Trident International are among the other players following on the heels of these giants.

Today, the UAE is one of the most liberal countries in the Gulf, comprising a diverse population and tolerating minority cultures and beliefs.

I know a lot of UK investors are not keen on investing in Dubai property because of a lack of knowledge, fears of terrorism, and ignorance.

I often hear investors say, "What would happen to the Dubai property market if Al-Qaeda were to launch a 9/11-style attack on the centre of Dubai?"

I personally don't see this as a problem. Terrorism is much more likely to happen outside of Dubai than inside the country.

In any case, take a look at New York and London. These terrorist targets have bounced back and their respective property markets are stronger now than ever before.

Dubai boasts one of the lowest crime rates in the world. Street crime and petty theft are unheard of. Many ethnically and culturally diverse communities from around the world live in close harmony within Dubai. Meanwhile, the UAE is thousands of miles away from any of the so-called 'hot spots' of the Middle East.

The citizens of the UAE are well known for their impeccable manners and welcoming attitude toward foreigners. They are also known for having created a liberal, progressive, and stable environment that places a strong premium on family values.

I don't think many people in the UK really know what's going on in the UAE. They just hear that there is a palm or something, and are reluctant to invest because of their fears of terrorism. This is crazy!

Meanwhile, all the German investors are getting into the Dubai property market first.

UK investors don't seem to know how much development is being planned, or what the big-picture vision is.

It seems to me that the only thing UK investors want to know about is Spain. How boring!

I think Dubai's vision is amazing and I have no doubt that we will hear a lot more about this country and its property market in the years to come.

If you're serious in buying in Dubai I recommend getting a copy of Dubai Secrets Handbook. This book is packed with information on the legal and practical aspects of property investment, setting up in business and visiting Dubai as a tourist or potential investor.
