Where To Invest Money – Why Property Investing Is Your Best Choice

Deciding on where to invest money is an important decision, whether we're talking about £500 or £50,000 – you want to be sure that the money you invest is going to give you a good return.

Generally, the higher the risk an investment is, the greater returns you can expect to get from it. But, the great thing is that property doesn't really follow this rule because usually you're investing a much smaller amount than the value of the property, thanks to a mortgage!

In my opinion, property investing is the best and only choice, but there ant the main options for where to invest money...

Banks and Building Societies Savings Accounts have traditionally been a good place to pay in smaller amounts for people saving for a rainy day, and to be honest, it's a nice safe place to do so as you know you're guaranteed a little interest on your investment. But the rate is never going to be very high and you would have to wait years to get a good return on your initial investment.

So, in my opinion, savings accounts are not a good idea for investors who have larger amounts of money available and want to see a high return.

Your next, and more risky, choice for where to invest money is on the stock market. But, as we all know, the value of stocks and shares can go up as well as down. If the shares you buy go down below your purchase price you're in negative equity with nothing to show for it. That's one of the reasons why my vote goes to property investing.

Investing in property does have its risks too, but following on from my point above, even if the value of the property goes down, you still own it and can make money from it by letting it out, and by keeping hold of the property through problem times you'll come out the other end, with the knowledge that the value will increase again.
